Looking at how this trial has been conducted so far, there is very little hope that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui will be released even on December 17.
To begin with, she was remanded on an accusation which wouldn’t have been taken seriously by any self-respecting court of law. That whole story of her picking up an M4 rifle and firing two rounds at random was illogical. Yet, it was theonly charge brought against her. On such an implausible charge she was remanded without bail!
A pattern has become obvious by now: whatever could be the farthest from justice and common sense has been happening at every turn. Since it is rational and would make sense that having been announced mentally unfit a month ago, Aafia should be released on December 17, therefore it should be the least expected.
Instead, anything “unexpected” can happen – any violation of decency, justice and common sense (after all, this is a case regarding which the US envoy to Pakistan didn’t flinch from making a very misleading public statement)!

Dr. Aafia's next hearing is on the 26th of Feb 09. The judge has ordered the Govt to choose two psychiatrists and Defense to choose their own two so as to evaluate Afiya Siddiqui's mental health until her next hearing after which the judge will conclude whether she is fit to stand for trial.
Dr. Aafia's attorney advised everyone to send her (Dr. Aafia) post cards, letters with words of encouragement etc. (she said if you are Muslim then do it anonymously because you don’t want FBI come knocking on your door)

Btw, US Courts are in a process of evaluating her fitness to stand the trail The evidence against her involvement could only be put before the judge & the jury – once the court gives a decision on her fitness.

Well, the thing is, the Aafia Siddiqui case may be sad (and it is, especially her children), but the reality is that it has been very successfully used by JI's propaganda machine. So the people who continue bringing up the Aafia Siddiqui story should realize that their support is being used by JI to further its own agenda. If you are comfortable with JI's agenda, that's fine. But if you're not, you should think about what your continuous support for Aafia Siddiqui means.
It's unfortunate, but that's how it seems to be. We're all pawns :(

Couple of months back they hung three jihadis accused of being part of the bombing a couple of days before the olympics .... then they posted their pictures with crosses across their faces .... they have arrested another fifty or so Islamists and I am sure they will be dispatched to heaven to play with virgins ..... !!!!
Ms. Aafis should have been dealt with within weeks of her capture ....hopefully she will not be let off like the girls of Jamia Hafsa to go on and breed suiciders and homiciders that will grow up to kill innocent people .....
