A few days ago an Indian publication carried a report claiming that the Lal Masjod cleric Maulana Abdul Ghafar, who is a close relative of Maujlana Abdul Rashid Ghazi, who was killed by security forces during Operation Silence in July 2007, said that President Zardari’s indecent gestures, filthy remarks and repeated praise of a non-Muslim lady wearing a short skirt is not only un-Islamic but also unbecoming of a head of state of a Muslim country.

“It was sexist and amounts to flirting with a lady,” internationally renowned human rights activist Asma Jehangir told Geo TV. Surprisingly the critics also include liberal lobbies as well. A former federal minister Nilofar Bakhtiar had to resign when she was greeted by an aged French trainer after a successful jump from a glider in Paris.
Considering that we in Pakistan know our breed of religious fanatics, it was definitely not inconceivable to have one of our Mullahs issue a ‘fatwa’ as such when i read the DNA report a few days back. I was surprised but not entirely shocked to say the least. Today when Khaleej Times published a clarification it just brings about a sigh of relief that our Maulvi’s aren’t THAT stupid [Link to the idiotic Maulvi circus in Pakistan in announcing Eid!!!]

IT was not a fatwa, actually Molvi of LAL Masjid decleared him to be out of ‘diara i Islam’ (only these fanatics know where this ‘circle lies’) for shaking hands with Palin, in his speach on last Friday and this was reported by Pakistani urdu media as well.
The same insane creatures issued fatwa against Nelofar when she was jumping to raise money for victims of earth quake.

Forget whether Fatwa was issued or not since your blog referrs different sources which questions about the authenticity, the question is whether he was acting decent? No, He was not and it was not raised by “molvis” but many Pakistanis who live in US and didn’t like such “friendly[read cheap] geasture”.
so according to our broad-minded(or I say leaked minded), if some elder of their family would have been found busy in flirty with any woman on road or in a party and his wife would have said anything against such gesture then such moderates were going to declare the wife of woman a “Mullani” or extremist or anything else just because she finds it indecent? So why “this” mullah-bashing (notwithstanding your gripe about the Eid chand unhappiness – albeit many of us are NOT big fans of some of our Mullahs). Let’s stop such discourses which will lead to nowhere but to a cul-de-sac –- and only provide a fodder for the bigots keen on sowing dissensions, stirring up strife, spreading mutual fear and hatred amongst us.
Let us atleast during Eid days try NOT to stir up controversies based on Indian or chauvinistic notions.

I wonder when would these Maulvis issue fatwa against burning down girl’s schools, beating women in public, and slaughtering people as punishment, and so on.
I’d say it’s about time for us to stop being politically correct and to call these Muslim thugs what they are … thugs trying to push their weight around in the name of religion. And, for those of you bloggers who are trying to blame Palin for this, you’re just as ridiculous as the Muslim thugs and their fatwa.

Here are FATWA’S of “ISLAMIC” scholars that Quaid i Azam was a “KAFIR”, “MURTAD” and “LIABLE TO BE KILLED”….Some of FATWAS against Quiad were signed by ‘ULMA’ from all over India, from each and every village.
He was declared “Secular”, “DOG” and whever praise Jinnah, his “Nikah” becomes viod.

Both AZ and SP are politically corrupt and not very smart people.
AZ was one suicide bomber away from power, that has come to pass.

Was it Ulema, who implemented the Quota system in Pakistan? and thus destroying all the institues of Pakistan
Was it Ulema who nationalized all the industries and thus break the back-bone of Pakistan?
Was it Ulema who nationalized Educational Institutions and thus put Pakistan into fast track to destruction
Was it Ulema of Pakistan who sold Doctor Afia to your dad?
