Update @ 0018: Candle light vigil held at CJ in Islamabad

The following report comes in to us via e-mail from Wasim Baig who informs us about the happenings that took place at the candle light vigil tonight in Islamabad:

There was a candle light vigil and a special show of support on the occasion of Diwali for Justice Bhagwandas tonight. CJ is a popular hangout in Islamabad, run by the immutable Arshad Bhatti. The occasion was also covered by Geo. About 50 people were present and it was a peaceful and informative affair. Many folks were seen wearing black armbands in protest of the martial law, and primary amongst the talk was the curbs on the media and re-instation of the judges. Also, our utmost respect and gratitude to the brave judges of the supreme and high courts who refused to bow down under the tyrannical boot…

In the words of Habib Jalil
(One of the most radical Urdu poets of Pakistan, who was ill-treated by one regime after another, who wrote a poem which became very popular in which the complaint is that Pakistan has gone wrong and not that it should be):

“Tum say pehlay jo aikh shaksh yahan takht nasheen thaa, Oos ko bhi khuda honay kaa Itnaa hee yaqeen thaa”

(English translation: before you the person was sitting on this throne, he too believed to be God like you)
