Western Union for Adsense in Pakistan
Google Adsense has finally finalized the work for allowing Google Adsense publishers to receive their check via Western Union Quick Cash. This option is available to only individuals based in Pakistan, China, Malaysia, Philippines and five other countries, I assume these were those sore spots where publishers were facing a genuine problem in receiving their hard earned checks.
A few weeks back Badar Khushnood, the Google Country Representative in Pakistan, had hinted at this possibility barely a month back during the Google seminar I attended at the Media and Marketing Festival. I am so glad its now official and would definitely give the content producers in Pakistan a great boost to tap into the global ad network in full confidence of receiving their hard earned money in Pakistan.
It was also not so long ago in December 2006 I had also discussed at length issues about Paypal as well in Pakistan which still remains an issue for people here, so it is without doubt a step in the right direction

Nice move! It would cost more than their secure express delivery method though :( [as WU fee increases with increasing amount]. I think i’ll settle for a secure fixed-rate DHL delivery for AdSense cheques.
I am working with Google Adsense since last 4 years and haven’t experienced any problem except the delay in check clearance (usually takes 30-40 business days after deposit in local bank). Google provides express delivery option which delivers the check through courier in 3-4 business days after issue. So, the check usually arrives by last working day of the month.
WU is good for small publishers as there is a cap on amount to be delivered through it.
Best and most secure option is through wire, which is not yet available in Pakistan.
@Binary-zero, I too was lucky to have opened a Paypal acocunt when I was studying in the US in 2000 and with time have used it extensively to upgrade it to a full business account - honestly I find myself lucky considering the problems people face here in Pakistan, many times I wish to share this ‘privalage’ with people here but I suspect it would be ‘ill-legal’ as per State Bank of Pakistan. Heck this online bread earning method would mean some good influx in state revenue, and wonder why our government have left this issue on the sidelines?
I would also like to hear a discussion on how a group of paypal-gifted people can contribute and help the local IT industry in Pakistan. if the government cant help maybe a private project to boost the idea
@Kashif - I can see the problem with checks and I suspect you also have to take the hit for the $20 in clearance charges as well when requesting an international check clearance? - is that correct?
Ok a question from those who have been using AdSense.
Any idea how much income one could generate if getting hits between 50-300/day? A friend of mine whose blog is not active earned $99 in three years.
Kindly provide some tentative figure of earning per month.

3. Will WU increase their service charges if my adsense earnings go up or they have fixed fee no matter what is the check amount ?

5. If i didnt have WU branch in my city then they will drop my earning to my home or i have to go to nearest city branch to get earnings ?
6. If i didnt have tax id in pakistan then what to do, as i am student and didnt have any taxation, as i read at google blog that when you get money you also have to show your tax id, will they give money if i didnt have tax id in pakistan ?
I hope someone will help with these issues as we have good people here, plz keep in mind that i am from pakistan.

@Awab: Each bank has levied different processing charges for foreign currency checks. ABN Amro charges Rs. 850 flat, while Standard Chartered charges Rs. 350 + a percentage of check amount.
@Adnan: Wire Transfer from Google Adsense is not available in Pakistan. Other wise there is no issue in inward wire transfer (or Telegraphic Transfer). However, you must have a foreign currency account for outward remittance (sending money out of Pakistan).

WU will pay you cash or PKR check depending on the amount.

Normally they charge $10 for every $1,000 transaction. That is, if you have earned $500 for a month, you still have to pay $10 to WU. I am not sure but I guess Google will deduct those charges and pay directly to WU. [anybody confirm this?]

You can call WU for this, and update us as well.

You have to pay tax even if you are student, provided you are above 18 and your income falls in tax net (Rs. 100,000 per year). You do not have to show a tax ID to collect payment. WU will ask for a legal identification like NIC, Driving License, Passport etc.

I received my first payment from adsense via Western Union last week. the exciting thing was that WU or Google didn’t charge any processing fee. I received the exact amount as it appeared in my adsense account.

Instantly as it appear on google adsese account.

Hassan! If you are from Pakistan then no need to submit TAX information. It is only for US publishers.
One Main Question, My Name In Adsense Is Not Exact As It Is Different From My National ID Card, Like My Sir Name Is At Last And First Name In The End, Kinda Mixed Up AND I DONT WANT TO CHANGE MY PAYEE NAME AS THIS MITE TRIGGER SOME DOUTS ON ADSENSE TEAM. Although Im Following According And Member Since Last 2 Years. But Dun Wana Take Risk. So The Question Is Can I Cashout Ma Money From Local WU with Thats Name Only Mixed Up?

nice move - i guess no one following up on Paypal. There was a time paypal was free in PK too, in start of 2000/01 untill PK name was coming into hacking & Credit Card theft world - (*smile*)
I recently got my younger brother a Paypal account being in USA and opened myself a bank account in USA with universal debit/credit cards. And in first 3/4 days he was able to generate 400$+ money on paypal. Perhaps we need to follow up again on Paypal, may be we can come up with some sort of SOP.
