I Support, Dr. Ayesha Siddiqa

Military Inc by Ayesha SiddiqaThe Government of Pakistan (read Pakistan Army) has been trying its best to suppress the release of the book titled Military Inc.: Inside Pakistan’s Military Economy which was written by Dr. Ayesha Siddiqa. Since Friday, the proposed release date the military has pulled all stops to prevent the release of this all-exposing book going to the extent of pulling the book off the shelves and then harassing the author considerably.

This recent attempt to bully Free Speech has resulted in a world wide outcry and many people overwhelmingly have objected to the attempt by the Pakistan Army to silence this author and offer her my full physical and moral support in this regard.

I fully condemn the actions of the Pakistan Army to silence Dr. Ayesha and her new book titled Military Inc.: Inside Pakistan’s Military Economy and offer her full physical and moral support in this crisis

STATEMENT OF SUPPORT FOR DR AYESHA SIDDIQA

Interference with the book launch in Islamabad on Friday of the distinguished Pakistani scholar Dr Ayesha Siddiqas ‘Military Inc.: Inside Pakistan’s Military Economy’ gives us grave concern.

Although Dr Siddiqa was able to use the office of a non-government organization after hotels refused to provide a venue, her phone service has subsequently been repeatedly disrupted as she gave interviews and she has told the Committee to Protect Journalists and others that she feels increasingly isolated and physically threatened. On Saturday, plainclothes “Special Branch” agents visited her home town Khanqah Sharif near Bahalwapur and questioned her employees about Dr. Siddiqa, her husband and property.

We urge the Pakistan government not to curb academic freedom. At a time when Pakistan faces an internal political crisis and a dangerous regional security situation the need for information and free expression of ideas only increases. Dr. Siddiqa has produced thorough research on important topics that can inform open debate by all Pakistanis, and indeed others around the world. She and her work should be defended, not threatened or suppressed.

A few years ago it was a great shock for me to read the Hummod ur Rehman report and to know that our Pak (Sacred) Army, which is not accountable under NAB ordinance or any law. I never expected that our so PAK Army has killed Muslims in Bangladesh in the name of suppressing uprising. Then I thought that no one cares about what our Army did in Bangladesh. Our PAK (Sacred) Army has the desire to go into Afghanistan in the name of Jihad for saving Muslims, and they do not dare face India despite the fact that there are more Muslims in India. The only reason that I understand is the money after which PAAK army goes after, as there is no money for Jihad IN India, and there is more money in Jihad in Afghanistan so our Pak Army enters a neighbouring Muslim state and creates so called Taliban and deceives people by saying that the Army has got strategic depth in Afghanistan and spread Islam, Why no one asks the Army men, were there non Muslims in Bangladesh when they killed more Muslims in the so called uprising in East Pakistan and more Muslims were killed than partition of Pakistan.

This book by Dr. Ayesha is indeed a bold step and she has tried to show that our military is more interested in making money and not in saving country.
Since the so-called PAK (Sacred Cow) Army has ruled directly or indirectly since independence, Army is mainly responsible for our bad image in the comity of nations. How many Generals or Pak army of Zias regime have sent their sons to become mindless mujahids for so-called holy wars? None. Rather they send them to US or Europe to become experts of finance, actuaries and sons with low IQ become Officers in the PAK Forces and after some years they emerge as CSS officers for the quota reserved for the army officers.
How many sons of generals have opted to go for Kargil war? None, only the sons of poor or middle class were butchered there and then awarded the medals of honours for the so-called misadventure.

Our PAAK Army has changed the theories of employment, Once in Army, Always rich, always on job, always above law always the heroes even after killing more Muslims in the 1970-71 era. And now making more money than anyone else in the country.
Was Pakistan created for Army ? If we, Pakistanis are to be ruled by Army then wasnt British Army better? When the people of Pakistan will liberate themselves form the Army rule, when will there be real freedom, free from Army and its B team, the Mullahs?
Pakistan can be saved by Pakistanis not by the PAK(So called sacred) Pakistanis. Mustafa Kamal was Trkish, Mao was Chinese, Stallon Russian, Why cant we ordinary Pakistanis think about saving our country from the Army regime. Rather we cant discuss the ugly face of Army, why not?

The ARMY (read Generals) have over the years understood that because its third world & because the USA hardly requires democracy here , they can use their holy status to turn this beautiful country full of natural resources into their business empire & can rule it acting as second version of the Colonial Masters.

To achieve this first thing they did is to make sure our defence is so strong that any outside interference becomes impossible. This gave them two benefits (1) Camouflaging their designs in the name of national security & the threat from India (which was never a fool to attack an ill, rotten & poverty stricken country & itself not different from us) & secondly gave them a positive light in the eyes of the nation. They also diverted the attention of the public form the main aim of Sir Syed, Iqbal & Quaid which was to see a Republic of Pakistan (not Islamic republic) equal & just for any soul that live in it. To divert the attention they created this germ called “Religious Guardians of Muslim Ummah using the statement “Pakistan Islam ka qila hai & made us into believe that its our duty to poke nose into any ISLAM related issue. Religoin being a senstivie issue people will waste their time in pitty religious issues instead other more important matters like education, welfare, service, progress & democracy. And indeed they were right. The Shia Sunni groups (with/without official assistance), the ethnic groups is all but few facts on ground. MQM was formed on exactly the same lines in Karachi. While I am not a fan of the PPP, it was to topple its influence in Sindh that was the prime motive to form MQM. Similar incidents after surface level surgery prove that there is hardly any party in Pakistan in whose formation the Army is not involved directly or indirectly. Probably the ethnic parties in Sindh & Balouchistan and NWFP are the only ones formed at their own.

To make all this possible the ISI, MI, IB type organisations were used. The second thing they did was to propagate corrupt politicians. The benefit was to sideline them when reqired with enough files in cabinets. While the USA & WESTERN powers were provided their share of benefit it was made sure the values like freedom, human rights & progress never reach the common man.

And to strengthen this all a business empire was established to get this roll for ever. Thus for Askari bank & falan askari & falan fouji company was formed.

Well done Generals. But this is 21st century. They can keep a nation fool for sometime but not the whole world. That is exactly why bold people like Dr Ayesah rose up against this Colonial Business Empire – part II & wrote this book to expose the realities behind GHQ & its men.

I condemn this anti state activityby the writer and its supportres.

Criticism by definition implies ,the “statement or act of disapproval, an opinion about faults or bad qualities” Or “activity of making fair ,careful judgment about the good and the bad qualities” where a s a critic by definition is “a person who expresses opinion about the good or bad qualities” .

One of the definition reward critics as “a person who expresses disapproval and talks about the bad qualities, especially in public”.

By looking at the definition, we can very well assess that our ways of expressing and pointing out weaknesses with reference to the subjects as critics, are indicative of our attitude to highlight only factors that we consider, interpret or suggest in opinion, as a likelihood or resultant outcome.

This opinion does not qualify for the act of criticism in a constructive manner but rather reflects narrow mindedness and inability to get hold of the subject marking the individual as restricted linear, directional thinker.

Such qualities when driven over with the backup power and support of political or religious elements , takes over the image reflecting legitimate or illegitimate perceptions and demands and masking the real benefit and circumstantial results .

Although criticisms at places can be beneficial to the critic and insane listener, who has surrendered his ability to interpret and extract out results by logical evaluation and circumstantial evidences and layouts, but the fact is, the element of realization is always sacrificed in order to attain the desired level of satisfaction and intentional achievement for pre chalked goal.

This attitude to criticize in a said manner, can always be marked out in most of our politician, activist NGOs involve in human rights ,members of media , and of course no exemption to the government .

The support to my aforementioned opinion can be forfeited with the fact that , we being ,one nation ,always render and forecast our opinion, as upcoming threats and likely results, in the preconceived forms and shapes and in the way of taunting and exploiting with reference to the targeted policies and plans already , in exercise and execution by the handling governing bodies or by the individual concerned or with contest to the government ,even on national issues requiring assistance ,backups and suggestion ,thus deliberately failing to rectify or neutralize, as prime and essential mind and movers of the nation ,qualifying as critic, sincere enough to own the people and nation ,by virtue of framing the weaknesses or drawbacks or ailment as charges and failure of the policies and plans and asking as remedy and relief, to hand over ,release or resign, said positions and appointment or department, on the ground of personnel analysis, to restart and handing over the chair as a classified , expert and specialist for encountering the said scenario and situation, as a well verse and well wisher spokesman of people .

Although the topics has too many things to be reported and discuss, and same level of criticism being credited in the vocabulary off and on by the critics, with reference to different sights and seen and views and objects ,but the potentially vacant area of the theme has never been fulfilled by these abusers .

This trend and habitual style has always been in my observation by the silent observer of the community ,assessing the level of interpretation evaluation, competency ,and narrow minded ness of concerned with their pit falls .

I think this is right time to create proper image of the reflection, by deliberately avoiding distortion, disruption and destruction by way of our presentation.

Floating ideas as and on the vocabulary of writer does not fulfill requirement as a writer or columnist, and again a critic nature is required to dig out the matter on ground realities and grass root level .

Being a retired officer from the military and duly under the sworn as citizen of Pakistan, it’s my moral duty to defend what has been made destiny in the form of fate and irrelevant criticism.

Although full version of my thoughts is not be possible here ,and also ,since I am presently going through the writer book ,so to defend our opinion as nation and Pakistan citizen, I reserve my comments for another few days to come .

Here I would just express my opinion, which I have extracted from your chapter of verse for Mrs. Aisha siddiqa, is probably you and all your supporters are unaware of the meaning of state, and its discretion in the contest of treason. Without going in to the discussion of state and its definition, I would simply disagree and defy your motive to malign and intentionally provoke such move on behalf of our enemies whether it be some nation or it be traitor like Aisha siddiqa .I think this platform of discussion is designed motively by our enemies so to create such motiveless reservation between our people with their national guardians. I condemn on behalf of my nation and its people against all such evil forces like dr Aisha siddiqa and empresses my severe grievances as and on behalf of nation against such malafide, malicious, and treacherous modus operandi.

In my opinion subject controversial columnist or writer, as has been admitted by herself in her preface that she joined the civil service in 1988 and left in 2001, Served in military accounts, defense audit and later the navy, are all appointments occupied as civilian domain in military account, naval account. These are auditor branches where officers from civil services of Pakistan are sent and the same is run and look after by DMG and civil servants.
It has nothing to do in reality with army.
Where as dr Aisha seems to be for sure, a designed planted case as all her work was from Wood Row Wilson International Center for scholars and she has admitted that all funding was provided by the said institute for years, from boarding, logging and stipends.

    Please go through its preface.

Its not just Aisha who became the chic of time in negative opinion holder of Pakistan but there are many nations as well as supporters like you who have been utilizing many platform and issue at the motivated concepts of national enemies.

Dr Ayesha Siddiqa’s ‘The Military Inc.’ is a book deflective of reality, highly derogatory and against the very notion of sovereignty. Dr Ayesha Siddiqa launches the book by giving the impression that her intention is to cover the entrepreneurial activities of military worldwide. . The publication of Dr Ayesha Siddiqa’s own book ‘Military Inc’ in 2007, in President Musharraf’s era, Dr Ayesha Siddiqa wrote a whole book, to malign a system (MILBUS) whose worth does not exceed 0.8% of Pakistan’s free market economy.

      "people!"

      Hi!

"i have pretty much studied about her,"

      Er, ok. Congratulations?

"and this is conform report that dr. ayesha is an isreali agent,"

How many times haven't we heard this song before?

Wow, but isn't everybody an Israeli agent, whenever the speak out against say, rape, human rights breaches, regimes, military, corrupt leaders etc?

In fact that is the standard accusation passed by people like you everytime you are met by an opponent. Scared, much? How about evidence instead of ad hominem attacks, you can't prove. Just a figment of your paranoid and disturbed mind unable to grasp different opinions?

Evidence? Where is this confirmed report?

"recently she had a meeting with some US-isreali officials"

Evidence?? Or is this just "secret" knowledge? Were you there? pictures? Invite? Anything?

"and certanly she’s paid to write and work against muslims and pakistan."

Evidence??? Do you know what the Quran says about launching false accusations against a person without evidence?

"she pretends to show that she is patriotic and much loyal with pakistan,"

Just like Musharraf, his ilk and you!

"and she’s really very concious about pakistan,"

So a patriot should be. If you are unconcious, you are no good.

"but the reality is completely inverse."

      Inverse??

"she works for isreali intellegence service,"

      Evidence????

      "so please don’t be fool."

      Likewise, brother.

"she wrote against ISI in her evil book,"

      Evil book?

      "she taunt our pak army."

Nah, they probably make a very good job at that themselves. They need no help from outside.

"and severely critisized the peaceful freedom movement in kashmir."

      Oh no.

"so be aware.this paid woman is enemy of our state."

I have a confirmed report saying Musharraf is the paid enemy of this state. He admits himself, that he, the government, military recieved millions of dollars from the US as bounty in exchange for hunting down Pakistanis and handing them over to the US. Read his book, why don't you.

"In The Line Of Fire", author, Musharraf Parvez, Chapter 23, Page 237. He says:

"We have captured 689 and handed over 369 to the United States. We have earned bounties totalling millions of dollars. Those who habitually accuse us of "not doing enough" in the war on terror should simply ask the CIA how much prize money it has paid to the govermnent of Pakistan"

Thats why many pakistani citizens are suffering over there and in secret prisons.

He denied rape because the rapist was a military guy and actually had the audacity to accuse the sisters, daughters, mothers, wives of Pakistan for inventing rape to get visas.

He put the name of rape victims on the Exit control list, so they can't leave the country, harrassed, threatened them with death on end. All while pretending to care for the reputation of his country.

Pakistani prisons are filled with women and men, being torturred, abused and killed. His government supported abductions of citizens for money.

You are nothing but a paranoid Musharraf supporter with a vivid imagination.

Criticism does not mean a person is less patriotic or anti muslim, so quit already with the ridiculous accusations.

Dr. Ayesha Siddiqa, she wrote a book. If you dislike, don't read it. She is an expert in her field and it would not be surprising that people like you try to shut her up. You can silence her but then what happens when the next person comes forward? How many will you kill and silence?

I salute her for her courage because as a woman and a voice of criticism, it isn't easy especially in our world. I salute any man or woman, who dares to venture out into such danger.
