Just typical genetics. This site is only a guess. It doesn't tell you which genes will actually show up. It doesn't know exactly which genes your parents carry or pass on to you. It also doesn't know exactly which you will pass on to your kids. It is just a probability exercise.

Take us for example. My grandparents both had brown eyes, as did all five of their kids. However, each of the more than fifteen grandchildren and great grandchildren have had blue eyes. My husbands parents and he and his two siblings have a variation of brown and hazel eyes. Needless to say all of our kids are the blue eyes (being the great grandkids). We actually have the first child in a few generations who may not be a pure blue eyed. She is starting to change colors (at not quite three months old, so we will see.). The site said that we would have five brown and one blue.

i have blue eyes. my wife has brown eyes. my parents have brown eyes. my mother's father had blue eyes, his wife, brown eyes. my wife's father had brown eyes, his father had blue eyes. my wife's mother has brown eyes and both her parents also have brown eyes. all of my wife's 9 siblings have brown eyes. i have one sister with green eyes and all the rest of my siblings have brown eyes. (extra: my mother has 2 sisters with blue eyes, 2 brothers with blue eyes...my father's grandfather had blue eyes and my father's mother has a brother with blue eyes. the questions is this: i have a 3 1/2 yr old boy and a 1 1/2 year old girl with my wife and they both have blue eyes like me. how is this possible? what are the odds. i've used the eye color calculators on line and both predict me to have children w/ brown eyes only due to blue being recessive. can you help explain this? javier and sarah in texas
